The Social Media Marketing Expert who earns seven figures in this economy
Fid#028: Learning from a successful social media marketer's experiences...
Hey K-reator!
The economic situation has not been rosy, and everyone is attempting to hold on until the balance is restored. This is not the case for everyone, because, despite the difficulties in various sectors, others are doing exceptionally well for themselves and earning a lot of money for their excellent work.
I spoke with a successful social media marketing expert who is now passing the torch to others by teaching them how to be successful social media marketing experts. This conversation covered all aspects of her work, including how to get started and her thoughts on the Nigerian market.
Let’s dive into the conversation with Adeaga Adediwura
Q. Can you briefly introduce yourself?
I am Adeaga Adediwura, and most people know me as Thesocialmediaoracle.
I graduated from Osun State University, studying English and International Studies.
I am a Social Media Marketing expert (SMM). I help new social media marketers start their journey into SMM and earn the figures they deserve.
Q. How did you get started in social media marketing (SMM)?
Hmm, let me say that new media has always been my thing since childhood. I could remember when I would visit the cyber cafe close to my mum’s office just to check out the internet. Thankfully, my parents supported me.
Fast forward to 2015 when I was waiting for admission when I decided to use my time to get into something so I went into blogging then I was known as Africanblogspot, I got admission and couldn’t concentrate on it anymore. I was trying to get familiar with social media and sign up for social media courses till 2017 when people started reaching out to me to show them how to do stuff on social media, gradually more people started reaching out and then I started building my community of business owners and creatives. More people started reaching out about how to use social media then, after implementing the advice and it works, they end up telling people about me, so I decided to monetize my skill.
From helping people manage their businesses on social media, I started teaching people how to do the same.
After I finished university, I had the opportunity to work at a social media agency as the team lead which gave me more knowledge and exposure.
Then I decided to start Thesocialmediaoracle with the knowledge and experience I was able to gather.
So far, I have been able to work with over 600 businesses and I have coached over 52 social media marketers.
Q. What do you think are the basic responsibilities of a social media marketer?
Social media marketing is majorly marketing a business on social media, which means getting people to know about a business and getting people to be interested in working with the business.
Q. Do you think there is a difference between a social media manager and a social media marketer?
Yes, there is a big difference😂. A social media manager is to manage your business on social media while a social media marketer is to market your business on social media.
Q. Are there responsibilities that you do outside your job description?
Not every time, when working with clients, there are set deliverables and expectations. They have a breakdown of what working with me looks like and things they should look forward to.
But sometimes I go all out to help businesses get their desired results.
But in cases where certain things are not in my area of expertise, such as professional video production, etc. I tend to outsource to experts in the field so we can get the best quality and our desired results.
Q. What is the highest amount you have ever earned as an SMM expert?
In general, 7 figures.

Continue…
Q. Ahhh, God when? 😂
It was a long-term project 😂 which increased the amount to be paid.
Q. What’s your best working experience?
Ah, it’s clients sending me extra money just because they were impressed 😂
Q. Worst working experience?
Clients that want instant results 😩 Like they want to see it immediately, with unrealistic demands lol.
Q. How do you deal with these categories of clients?
If I see that they are difficult to work with, I will let them know my rules, and what they should expect and also sign a contract. We would proceed if it is something they can work with. If not, they can move to someone else.
Q. How can one get started as an SMM?
What I am always telling my students is that to become an SMM, you don’t need any academic qualification. All you just need is the right training and resources to set you on the right track.
Q. You have coached many SMMs. What’s the most common problem SMMs face?
From my understanding, most newbie SMM struggle with where to start and how to start.
Q. Looking at how far you have come, do you have plans to venture into something else?
Actually, yes, I plan to become a tech product marketing expert.
It’s still in line with social media marketing, but more advanced.
Q. What is your overall view of the SMM business in Nigeria?
It’s interesting as long as you know what to do and how to do it. You get to showcase your creativity, work with interesting companies, make connections with people and see things from a different perspective.
Most especially because you’ll get to see how people think, which helps you to know how to do things better and effectively market to them.
Q. What’s your favourite Fidia feature?
The part where I can sell my digital products 🥳
Q. Any final thoughts for those just starting or those who want to become SMM?
Rome wasn’t built in a day. To get to the level you want to be, all you need to do is start.
Love, light and laughter!
Your guy,
Philo🧡
